Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not sure what Treatment to book, what should I do?

Its best to start with a Free Consultation. During this Consultation we will discuss your concerns and goals. I’ll perform a ‘Facial Assessment’ which includes taking photos. I’ll then suggest the best Treatment to suit your needs. This could involve Botulinum Toxin Treatments or Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Filler. Sometimes I may refer you to a Colleague who is better suited to treat you. See my /treatments page for more information.

Can you do the Injections immediately after my Consultation?

Often, yes. I usually set aside time for treatments following an initial Consultation. However, if you have complex medical needs or contraindications to the Treatment, we may delay this by 1–2 weeks. This ensures time for safe planning. There is no expectation to proceed with Treatment if you change your mind following our Consultation.

Do the Injections hurt?

The short answer is yes, but most people actually tolerate the injections well. I’ve developed methods to make the experience as comfortable as possible. This includes creating a relaxing environment with calming music. I always prepare my syringes with preserved saline which reduces pain (something not offered by all Injectors). For more sensitive areas I use anaesthetic medicines to numb the site. I prioritise your comfort during procedures to improve your overall experience.

Are Injectable Cosmetic Treatments expensive?

Costs vary depending on the Treatment. We can adjust our approach to suit your budget. Even a small amount of the right product injected in the right area can make a significant difference. During the Consultation, I’ll provide a clear quote for the proposed Treatment I can give this as a range. The cost per unit is fixed and not negotiable. Please see my /pricing page. I also have ‘Afterpay’ available /payment-options.

What Cosmetic Treatment should I start with?

Everyone’s face is different. Although there are general patterns to ageing, it varies quite a bit from person to person. The Frown lines (above the eyebrows) is the most common starting point. Others may focus on horizontal ‘Forehead lines’ or others on their ‘Crow’s Feet’ around the eyes. Some Treatments are ‘off-label’ and can only be discussed during a face-to-face Consultation as per New Zealand’s Therapeutic Advertising rules.

Will Injectable Cosmetic Treatments make my face look unnatural?

This is a common concern. Unfortunately, Celebrity Culture and social media highlight unnatural and extreme results. When done correctly, injectables should enhance your beauty subtly—others might notice you look refreshed but should not be able to pinpoint your Treatments. We consider Cosmetic Medicine to be an art-form as much as it is a Science. My ‘Style’ and approach is a ‘natural look.’

What are the risks of Injectable Cosmetic Treatments?

I will thoroughly explain potential risks during the Consultation. Common side effects include bruising, redness, and swelling. For Botulinum Toxin, risks include headaches, uneven eyebrows, or temporary facial asymmetry. Dermal fillers carry risks such as lumps, infection, vascular occlusion, and in extremely rare cases, blindness or stroke. These risks highlight the importance of choosing an experienced injector who aims to prevent and manage any complications effectively.

What if I’m unhappy with my results?

While I aim to achieve your desired outcome as my primary goal, there’s always a chance the results may not meet your expectations. This might require additional Treatment or adjustments. I provide my contact details to every one of my Cosmetic Patients so you can reach me with any concerns. I’m committed to helping you feel satisfied with your results.

What if I’m preparing for a social event or my Wedding?

If you’re planning treatment for your Wedding or a major social event, I recommend starting with me at least six months in advance. This allows time to perfect your Treatments and ensure your skin looks its best. Timing is crucial to avoiding side effects like bruising or swelling on your big day.
